Little Boots - Exclusive Interview by Barry M Blogger Lauren Holden

HAILED as one of this year's hottest new music stars, singer Little Boots not only topped the BBC 'Sound of 2009' poll, but she's also up for an NME award.

Since posting cover versions of everything from Girls Aloud's 'Sexy! No, No, No' to Joni Mitchell's 'River' on YouTube, Blackpool-born electro popster Little Boots, aka Victoria Hesketh, has become one of music's brightest young acts. I was lucky enough to get an exclusive interview with the stunning Victoria. A fan of Barry M as a teenager, here, Victoria shares some of her essential beauty tips and must-have make up products.

Lauren: Hi Victoria. What have you been up to musically lately and how did it feel to be listed in BBC's Ones to Watch poll and the NME's 2009 list?
Victoria: I'm in the studio finishing off my album which is out later in the year. I'm working in London at the minute then I go to LA to work with some people over there. The press has been really exciting and it's great that people are interested in the project, but it has meant more pressure."

Lauren: What's your daily beauty routine?
Victoria: I cleanse and moisturise twice a day - more when I have shows or shoots that I have to wear a lot of make up for as my skin gets dehydrated. I try drink water a lot but forget half the time!"

Lauren: What's your favourite must-have make-up item?
Victoria:I love smoky eyes so the fat Barry M kohl pencil is great. I love silvers and purples and anything metallic for eyes, and cheek shimmer.

Lauren: Describe your make-up routine
Victoria: Foundation and concealer, then maybe a light base on my eyes and silver or gold shimmer on the lids, black eye liner which I blend in with a darker shadow, then a lighter highlighter or glitter higher up towards the brow. Brows are really important: I usually colour mine a bit darker and more defined and finish eyes with lots of mascara or maybe fake lashes if it's a big show. The rest of the face is quite nude, a bit of blusher and shimmer on my cheek bones and a soft lip shade. I don't like too much heavy gloss - my hair sticks to it when I move! And blot powder for the lights.

Lauren: What's your essential make-up tip?
Victoria: Shade places you want to hide with darker colours and highlight those you do to bring them out.

Lauren: Finally, what's in the pipeline for you?
Victoria: I'm just finishing the album then we're playing a few us shows in New York and LA. Then we come back for a tour in Feb and March, and I'll be filming the video for my first single which will be out in May.
